Movavi VideoSuite :: Edit Video :: Deinterlace Filter

The Deinterlace filter removes interlace effect in the movie.

Many digital camcorders divide each frame into a set of even and odd horizontal raws: even raws are recorded first, and then the odd raws. So, each frame you see consists of two consecutive pictures. This mixture is called interlacing. It allows compressing video without using digital compression methods.

But if you record a fast moving object (sport competition, racing, pets, children and so on), it can be at one place in the "even" picture, and at another in the "odd" one. As a result, you get a "striped" picture. The Deinterlace filter transforms the mixed frames into normal video frames and removes the interlaced horizontal raws.

BeforeAfter

To apply the filter:

  • Select the Filters tab:

  • Double click the icon of the filter:

    OR

  • Retaining the icon of the filter, drag and drop it into the Preview area.

    To adjust the filter settings:

    1. Select the filter's name in the Applied filters pane.
    2. In the filter settings pane, check Copy even raws to copy even lines into uneven lines. This allows noticeably improve the quality of video.
    3. Check Interpolate to calculate the uneven lines using the neighbour even lines. This option provides high speed of processing and good quality after processing.
    4. To return to the default values, click Defaults.

    Back to the Filter Reference.
