Movavi VideoSuite :: Edit Video :: Working :: Previewing Files :: Edit Video :: Working :: Previewing Files

The Preview area of the Edit Video module serves to preview original video, video with apllied filter effects, and to compare original video with processed one.

The Preview area has three modes:

  • Original. The original file is displayed, without any changes caused by filters.
  • Filtered. Modified file is displayed. This is exactly how your movie will look like after you save it. As you add or modify the filters, you will see the applied effects.
  • Split. A split mode that helps to see the changes and analyze the filters' settings. The Preview area is divided into two parts in this mode. The left half displays the original file, while the right one displays the movie with the filters applied.

To switch to a preview mode, select a corresponding tab in the top of the Preview area.

You can play the movie and jump to any frame in any mode.

To play the movie do one of the following:

  • Select Playback > Play
    --OR--
  • Click
    --OR--
  • Press Ctrl-P or SPACE on your keyboard.

    To stop playing the movie:

  • Select Playback > Stop
    --OR--
  • Click
    --OR--
  • Press SPACE on your keyboard

To jump to the beginning of the movie:

  • Select Playback > To the beginning
    --OR--
  • Click
    --OR--
  • Press HOME on your keyboard

To jump to the end of the movie:

  • Select Playback > To the end
    --OR--
  • Click
    --OR--
  • Press END on your keyboard

To jump to the next frame of the movie:

  • Select Playback > To the next frame
    --OR--
  • Click
    --OR--
  • Press ALT-N on your keyboard

To jump to the previous frame of the movie:

  • Select Playback > To the previous frame
    --OR--
  • Click
    --OR--
  • Press ALT-P on your keyboard

You can also jump to any frame dragging the timeline slider. The current frame's number and its time are displayed in the Status Bar in the bottom of the window:

You can turn on the Repeat mode to loop the playback of your movie. In this mode, the movie will automatically jump to the beginning once it reaches its end.
To turn on the repeat mode:

  • Select Playback > Repeat
    --OR--
  • Click
    --OR--
  • Press F2 on your keyboard.

To turn on/off sound while playback:

  • Select Playback > Sound
    --OR--
  • Press F3 on your keyboard.

You can preview your movie in the Full Screen mode. To turn on the Full Screen mode:

    1. Switch to the desired Preview mode (Orignial, Effects, or Split).
    2. Select Playback > Full Screen or click or press F4 on your keyboard.
To exit the Full Screen mode, click the mouse button or press ESC on your keyboard.
The Full Screen mode works the same as the normal mode: you can jump between frames and rewind your movie using the keyboard shortcuts.

You can capture a current frame and save it as an image.
    To capture a frame:

    1. Jump to the frame you want to capture; stop the playback
    2. Select File > Save current frame...
    3. Type a filename, choose a format and a location for the file.
    4. Click Save.
Important: when you capture a frame, you save the current frame as it is displayed in the Preview area, including the preview mode (Original, Effects or Split), applied filters and the size. You can change the size of the Preview area by dragging the window's borders or maximizing the window.

    See next: Applying Filters.
