Movavi Video Converter :: Format Reference :: MP3

MP3 (MPEG Audio Layer 3)

MPEG Audio Layer 3 is an algorithm for audio compression that is part of the MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 specifications. MP3 was originally developed in Germany in 1991 by the Fraunhofer Institute as a technology that uses perceptual audio coding to compress CD-quality sound by a factor up to 12, while providing almost the same fidelity and quality. Compression efficiency of lossy data compression encoders is typically defined by the bitrate, because compression rate depends on bit depth and sampling rate of the input signal.
With Movavi Video Converter, you can extract audio from your video and save it as MP3.

Settings

  • Choose Frequency: 44 100 Hz is CD quality. The higher is the frequency, the better is output sound.
  • Select Stereo bitrate. Higher values produce better quality.
  • Select Channels: Auto, Mono or Stereo. If Auto is selected, Video Converter uses original parameters of video file.
  • If Stereo is selected, select Stereo Mode.
  • If needed, check Use variable bitrate encoding. With this setting on, Video Converter will choose best bitrate settings for your file. Select VBR quality.
